Customize Icons Using ConvertICO (Windows 7)



Customizing icons for Windows 7 might seem impossible, but it's not! If you want to change the look of your icons for free, without downloaded software, follow the easy tutorial below!
  1. Select the icon you would like to customize!
  2. Find your preferred icon online and save it.
  3. Before saving, make sure you create a definitive folder where you would like to save your files. For example, you can title it "Customized Icons" with sub-folders "Icons" and "PNGs."
  4. Save your customized Icon to the "PNG" sub-folder.
  5. Go to convertico.com
  6. Click Browse, find your file, and click Open.
  7. Watch for your file to pop up on the right
  8. Right-click the down arrow to save your file.
  9. Remember to save your file to the "Icon" sub-folder!
  10. Locate your original icon again (the one you want to change). This time, right-click for properties, which should be at the bottom of the right-click menu.
  11. After the properties window pops up, look for the Shortcut tab and at the bottom, the "Change Icon" button.
  12. Click Browse to browse for your new icon.
  13. Select your new icon and click Open.
