Customizing
icons for Windows 7 might seem impossible, but it's not! If you want to change
the look of your icons for free, without downloaded software, follow the easy
tutorial below!
- Select the icon you would like to customize!
- Find your preferred icon online and save it.
- Before saving, make sure you create a definitive folder where you would like to save your files. For example, you can title it "Customized Icons" with sub-folders "Icons" and "PNGs."
- Save your customized Icon to the "PNG" sub-folder.
- Go to convertico.com
- Click Browse, find your file, and click Open.
- Watch for your file to pop up on the right
- Right-click the down arrow to save your file.
- Remember to save your file to the "Icon" sub-folder!
- Locate your original icon again (the one you want to change). This time, right-click for properties, which should be at the bottom of the right-click menu.
- After the properties window pops up, look for the Shortcut tab and at the bottom, the "Change Icon" button.
- Click Browse to browse for your new icon.
- Select your new icon and click Open.
