Create a Password Protected File on Windows 7



  1. Open Run.
  2. Type in Notepad.exe .
  3. Press enter/return.
  4. Copy and paste this code:

  6. Replace PASSWORD_GOES_HERE with the password you want.
  7. Click Save As.
  8. Go to File Type and set the file type to All Types.
  9. Name the file locker.bat.
  10. Go to the file location.
  11. Double click on locker.bat. A folder named "Private" should show up.
  12. Put your important files in this folder.
  13. Double click on locker.bat again. Command Prompt will show up with this message: Are you sure you want to lock the folder?(Y/N).
  14. Type in Y and press enter. After a few seconds, Private will disappear.
  15. To unlock the folder, double click on locker.bat. Command Prompt should show up again, prompting you to type in the password. Type it in and press enter.
  16. If you got it correct, Private should show up again with all your files.
